Why did Usain Bolt slow down?

Ever since Beijing welcomed the world on the 8th of August, 2008, the 100m event has been one of the most highly anticipated events of this year's Summer Olympics, bringing together 8 of the fastest men on Earth to fight for the title of the World's Fastest Man.

The big question- Why did Usain Bolt slow down towards the end of the race? It seemed as though he could have very well beat the world record by a quite a few more seconds, thus bringing it down to a mind-boggling 9.5 - 9.6 seconds.

The answer to this mystery?

Usain Bolt could very well have beaten his old world record of 9.72 seconds by a lot more, had he not slowed down, but he obviously enjoys the spotlight and would like to be in the limelight once again.

One easy way for him to make sure this happens was to slow down so he can reset his current world record of 9.69 seconds. Once again, there you have it! Another Olympic Mystery solved.
