a mentor once told me that ISLAM as a religion dun need freedom fighters!who says ISLAM needs to be defended? the religion itself is STRONG enough to defend itself as it has proven itself to be still standing strong from the time of the Prophet SAW. until now...
i was looking forward to 9.8.2008 as a day finally the 'right' people can discuss about things which has been swept under the carpet for soooo long...i believe this forum would in a way be the place where one can shed sum light on the issue at hand...i believe so as one of the speakers is a well known ustaz(at least amongst those who had studied under him) and whom i would say ive adored eversince i attended his lecture during uni days. ive always been envious of twinnie(not in a way that wud pose any harm to her), as she knew ustaz naim :) anywho...., what made me adored him was the simple way he explained things and not once did he ever posed that Islam is a religion of negativity.. in a short span (i thnk i took short sem with him) i did learned a lot from him. i respect him and will always feel that he would be the right person in case of doubt..
it was very upsetting for me when i realised that i cud not attend the forum but to have it cancelled?...to have it closed in matter if minutes after it started?...like most of the uproar, in the vicinity of the bar council itself?wad is HAPPENING to our country?do those people who OBJECT to it even know what its about? was it even questioning the religion itself?
wad were these objecting muslims trying to prove?that by converting to ISLAM means u don't have a say at all?that if a family member converts to ISLAM and posed hardship to his family, the family should just deal with it?that if a father fathered 5 children when he was a non-muslim, and when he converts his children shud b left to starve?
that if a person converts to Islam in the name of love or was coerce to marry a muslim or merely just to marry a muslim, and NEVER did his/her muslim spouse taught or showed him/her the muslim way, that she shud just remain a muslim who does not pray, does not believe in Allah, does not believe in our beloved Prophet SAW, who drink alcohol, who is adultrous, who eats pork, who don't know that she needs to fast..who's responsible for her?tidakkah mereka(pemimpin) tahu bahawa ianya adalah tanggungjawab mereka sebagaimana tanggungjawab si suami atau isteri yang Islam untuk mendidik mereka (yang memeluk agama Islam) ke jalan yang benar?
ustaz naim would have been a speaker for the govt ot at least for the kehakiman syar'ie, wudnt he had had the chance to shed some light as to the recurring events thats been surrounding us?wudnt he had the opportunity to shed some of his knowledge to all of us if he had given the chance to speak?wouldnt we had finally been able to hear the kehakiman syari'es version of how come so many cases has been disallowed by court or maybe there are many other cases that court has allowed but was never publicised due to political or maybe even the story is not as juicy as a case which its application has been disallowed?hhmm...
i did not see the forum as bar council trying to talk on sensitive issues and since when a mere 300 malays gathering outside BC meant that the MAJORITY MUSLIMS IN MALAYSIA ARE APPAULED BY BC'S ACT OF PROCEEDING WITH THE FORUM?

man of the millenium-->ustaz naim.
too bad the overzealous ones stopped him from shedding some light on what needs to be done.
the fear for the forum is said to be set on belief that it will be a beginning towards faclitating ppl to convert out of islam.
what they failed to see is, the problem has already occured.merely by not providing the "technicalities" is seen as the last resort to stop or rather discourage ppl from converting out of Islam.
the problem is already there.while the only solution (ive said it million times before) lies in the preventive measures: education.
this is what happens when islamic education is set in the times of hadhari era.
so at the end of the day, the one to blame is the gomen.not the Bar Council for trying to expose the problem and trying to seek solution.
Don't kill the messenger,right?
adios.
